Nicolas Party (b. 1980) is a critically acclaimed Swiss artist best known for his distinct brand of colorful figuration and a multi-media approach that culminates into meticulous immersive experiences.
Depicting a range of subject matter from lush landscapes to stoic stylized portraits, Party creates a celestial wonderland marked by pastel palettes, confident compositions, and his signature graphic style.
In 2022, Party's work was featured in a solo exhibition "L’Heure Mauve" at Musée de Beaux Arts Montreal. Co-curating the exhibition, Party engulfed viewers in a multi-sensory experience, going as far as to offer musical accompaniment via smartphone. Presented on bold walls and patterned murals, his exuberant canvases were staged next to the works of his primary influences from around the world and across centuries.
This evocative print shows Party's 2021 painting "Landscape" . Depicting a grove of soaring Cypress trees, the dream-like work recalls Magritte's landscapes. It is a prime example of Party's exploration of pastels, offering a luxe and velvety finish to this moonlit vision.
Today, Party's work is enjoyed in public collections across the globe including LACMA (Los Angeles), Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium (Brussels), to name a few.
